Novinka - Sorption of 3,5-dichlorophenol by Low-cost

Submitted work offers overview of knowledge related to issue of chlorophenols in the environment. Monography deals with common and alternative methods of removing chlorophenols in our country and abroad. Characteristics of chosen sorbents, namely Lemna minor cultivated in laboratory conditions, Lemna minor (natural), black nickel mud and red mud (waste from the production of metals) as well as preparation, respectively modification of sorbents are described in the work. Analytical methods as SEM-EDX and FTIR spectroscopy were used to identify individual sorbents and their functional groups. The main objective of the monography was to evaluate the efficiency of sorption of 3,5-dichlorophenol by alternative low cost sorbents and the impact of physical and chemical conditions on the sorption process. Gas chromatograph was used to determine decrease of concentration of 3,5 dichlorophenol. Monography offers results of decrement of concentration of 3,5 dichlorophenol by selected sorbents. Results of work show that selected sorbents achieved high levels of elimination dichlorophenol (95 %). Based on the results it can be said that these sorbents are suitable low cost sorbents applicable in the practice.
